April Shanty Report

Tuesday 16th April - Secret Shore Singer Session Meeting Report
Ye Old House at Home

Another great evening at the Ye Old House at Home. The night started off with 22 members singing an introductory song of 'The Grey Funnel Line' whilst Emily prepared herself for the evening. To liven up the evening roaring versions of 'Saucy Sailor' 'John Kanaka' and 'Mollymawk' were sung. During these songs our numbers increased to 30 members. At this point of the evening we were introduced to Harmonies for various songs such as 'Its Time to Go Now', 'Mingulay Boat Song' and 'Loyal Lover'. On completion of these songs it was time to take a well deserved break. Following the break we were treated to a number of individuals contributions from our members. Colin Bolton provided is with a reading about a 'Shrimp Champion'. and Brian and Colin Grier (Wellie Wailers) provided us with 3 songs from their repertoire. We had enough time to go through Roll the Old Chariot before finishing up by a roof raising version of 'Leave Her Johnny'. A wonderful night of singing and fun for all. The next session is scheduled for Tuesday 21st May.
